Not raising doesn’t lock you out.
AWS Activate Credits includes a path for founders without external funding. Other requirements still apply. Where an affiliation helps, the rule is an investor, accelerator, or startup organization, not venture capital.
Activate Founders starts at $1,000 for bootstrapped or self-funded startups; select participants may reach $5,000. Activate Portfolio offers up to $200,000 with an Activate Provider Org ID. AWS decides approval, tier and credit amount.

Of the opportunities we’ve reviewed, one pathway names venture backing itself. Two more ask for funding of a kind the provider accepts, which is wider: institutional or VC equity including SAFEs, and also verifiable Web3 token raises and blockchain foundation grants. A founder who never raised venture capital can still meet that. Two further benefits require membership in these programs. Check your membership and each benefit’s activation and expiry terms separately.
Separately, one pathway asksyou to plan to seek venture funding. That is a plan rather than money received, so it counts toward neither number above — but it is a published criterion, and a founder who will never raise cannot honestly meet it.
